How dog sensory Gardens work

Dog sensory gardens are specially designed to enrich the life of each dog in your household. A dog sensory garden can also be established within your community and provides an ideal place for animals in your neighborhood to be refreshed, especially if they normally live in a setting where they're surrounded by concrete.

A dog sensory garden should provide opportunities for dogs of all sizes to forage. Dog sensory gardens should also provide enough room for dogs to get exercise.

If a dog normally lives in a small apartment, their owner may regularly take them out for walks. However, the dog sensory garden helps  them to exercise in a different type of environment, where they're surrounded by plants that stimulate their senses.

Even shy dogs like to explore and dog sensory gardens encourage them to do just that. These spaces help them to explore their environment in a safe way,  building their own ability to identify smells as they do so. They also learn to release stress when they're surrounded by healing plants that are also not toxic to them.

Is lavender good for cats?

Medicine garden plants for dogs are safe for them to nibble on. These herbs provide health benefits to your dogs whenever they decide to chew on a leaf or two.

All the garden plants that are toxic should be avoided. Your dogs can use safe plants to self medicate.

If a dog is feeling slightly distressed or emotionally upset, they can usually identify an herb that will help and can chew on a bit of it in order to feel more of a sense of comfort.

Dogs and several other animals are good at self medicating. This means that your dog will use their senses to find the plant that they may need at a particular time.

If you have already observed a dog nibbling on grass whenever they feel ill, it's self medication in progress. By having a variety of plants in your garden, your dog can select the one that is best for their needs at a particular moment.

Mint is a good plant to have in a sensory garden for dogs. Mint as you already know is popular among humans because it helps to calm the stomach. Many people drink mint when they're feeling nauseous.

Similarly, lavender also helps human beings to feel more relaxed at times when they're under stress. It has the same effect on your dog so it can be included in your sensory garden.

Dandelion, heart medication and lifestyle

Dandelion is an herb that is sometimes recommended along with conventional medicines because of its diuretic properties. Researchers think that dandelion's diuretic effect is due to its high potassium content.

If your holistic medical practitioner recommends dandelion, they may first adjust the dosage of prescription medications that you are currently taking. If you're not currently being managed by a holistic health care provider, it's important to talk to your doctor about dandelion and any other herbal supplements that you may be taking.

Dandelion can interact with several types of prescription medications including estrogen based contraceptives, prescription diuretics, antipsychotic medications, antidepressants and statins.

Can older cats have meat?

Can older cats can have raw meat? If you have  been thinking about giving your cat raw fish, talk to your veterinarian about it.

Cats can usually adjust to a raw diet without problems at any age. Remember that your cat always needs meat in their regular diet.

Cats cannot thrive at any age on a vegetarian diet. If you're feeding your cat with dehydrated meat, ensure that it is reconstituted with enough water. Dry food is not the best for elderly cats.

Can cats eat carrots? Are carrots safe for your cats?

You may notice your cats are looking longingly at the carrots that you're snacking on. You might wonder if it's safe to give your cat carrots as an occasional treat.

The answer is yes. Your cat can be given carrots once they are cooked and cut into bite-sized pieces.

Carrots cannot be a substitute for meat. Cats must have meat in their diet. In addition, carrots are naturally sweet so your cat should not be given them in excess, since  that can contribute to health problems such as diabetes.

Distilled water and your dog

Your veterinarian may sometimes recommend that you give your dog distilled water. This will sometimes happen in cases where your dog has a chronic condition such as congestive heart failure.

Dogs, cats and other pets with chronic conditions like these usually benefit from changes in their diet. Your veterinarian will recommend specific changes in their intake of salt, potassium, phosphorus and other nutrients if they have congestive heart failure.

Dogs with congestive heart failure tend to retain water, sodium and chloride. Diuretics are often given to dogs with congestive heart failure in order to remove fluid build up around the heart. This alleviates pressure on the heart.

However, if your dog is drinking water that contributes to higher levels of sodium and chloride your veterinarian may recommend that you switch to distilled water. Giving your dog drinking water that's low in sodium should be done along with putting your dog on a diet that is low in salt  (sodium chloride).

Senior Cat Diet

A senior cat diet should consist of food that supplies them with the right nutrients. However, since your cat is older  you need to ensure that their food is soft enough for them to chew comfortably. Feeding an elderly cat dry food is not a good idea in the long  term.

If possible, it's best to feed your elderly cat a raw diet. Cats must have protein but they don't need carbohydrates. You can feed fish or any other source of protein to your cat. This should be gently cooked or raw.

Cannabinoids Benefits

So far, researchers have identified at least 480 important compounds in Cannabis sativa. At least 113 of these are cannabinoids and the list of cannabinoids keeps growing. Cannabinoids are proving to be an important group of chemicals in medicine and so, a lot of work is being done to learn how they work.

If you're using CBD creams for pain or are using another form of CBD for anxiety, MS or another illness, your medicine probably contains a lot of different compounds and maybe even terpenes. These work together, having a synergistic effect that is greater than that produced by any of these beneficial compounds working in your body on their own.

Guard Against Water-Related Injuries with your Baby

Ensure that the doors to all bathrooms are kept locked at all times. Many injuries occur in the bathroom and you never want your child to crawl in there while you're not looking. To prevent scalding, make sure your water heater is not set higher than 120 degrees.
